KUALA LUMPUR & NEW YORK

The Beginning

Until 2014

Candice started cooking at age five, helping her father prepare cantonese dinners for her family and friends. Her father’s food was extremely sought after by extended family and friends, all hoping to be invited for a reunion dinner. The influence of Malay, Western and Indian food also fed into her existing Cantonese roots.

Years later, she moved to the United States. Here she sought out and developed her real passion, which was food. In New York she regularly attended the Institute of Culinary Education to develop her skills. She lived at the cross roads of Little Italy and Chinatown atop one of the oldest delis in New York. And right next door to a Vietnamese Bahn Mi sandwich shop. No doubt all these influences helped to develop her culinary ideas.

BANGALORE

Chinita

2014

After moving to Bangalore, Candice began toying with the idea of starting a food business. She developed the idea of Chinita by serving her food at flea markets and then moving on to catering. After countless requests to start a restaurant, Chinita Real Mexican Food was born in 2014.

Today Chinita has three locations in Indiranagar, Koramangala and Whitefield, and is a well respected brand. Candice, in her quest to always develop something new, began thinking of another complementary food venture she was passionate about. Then she remembered her time in New York…
